Description

Locals and visitors from Angeles City are not only drawn to the restaurants scrumptious food but also to their delectable wines perfectly paired to each dishes. Jeff Pradhan gushed about the food and wine combination of the restaurant ”The pairing of wine and food was wonderful and not something you find every day in the area. Chef Dan continues to outdo himself with unique plates of high quality ingredients at reasonable fares. Piccolo Padre is the best food in the area.”

Moreover, Piccolo Padre is now open from lunch time until dinner. Italian cravings can now be enjoyed as early as lunch until late in the evening.

According to one of the guests, Tricia Evans “My favorite, while nearly impossible to decide was probably the tender, tasty and grilled filet minion which was served on a bed of perfectly cooked risotto. The baked oyster, and a scallop, as a first course was wonderful, as was the arugula salad, gnocchi with gorgonzola, and as an ending, a selection of imported cheese with olives and dried fruit. Everything was wonderful and I’d be ready to do it all over again the next day!”

I revisited the Little Vicar last week in its new location in the Prime Asia Hotel.

I was impressed with the restaurant. It is clearly Italian in that it has high ceilings with frescos and chandeliers and some interesting paintings of opera masks around the walls. I thought it was set up well with direct access from the parking outside and function room above.

The starter section is such that one can get a selection of different items and I did that again opting for an oyster – au natural , a smoked salmon and crème cheese bruschetta as well as a tomato and mozzarella one – there were two of us we had one each and it was an excellent starter.

For mains I had duck a la orange ( Duck Breast Melarango on the menu) – a favourite of mine and a dish I have not had for a while. It was slightly over cooked for me but otherwise first rate. But as I did not ask for it pink that was partly my bad. My dining companion had a seared tuna salad which was suitable rated and it looked good.

I had desert of cannoli Siciliani which was shells filled with chocolate mousse and or ricotta cheese = I am not sure what the shells were made of and they did not excite me which for me rather ruined the excellent fillings.
I had a bottle Pinot Grigio from a small but adequate wine list – selling wine in AC is mugs game I fear but variety is adequate be it limited.
The service was excellent and I enjoyed the meal. I could have spent a lot more money on more exotic dishes – lobster tails and steaks were offered. Piccolo Padre is not cheap but it is good – almost certainly the best in Angeles City, and in IMO provides the single best reason to stay at the Prime Asia Hotel. Visited September 2015
