“Best steak ever! (Fillet stone steak)”
Well what can I say - a group of us went on a trip to Portugal and recommended O'Leme as a good place to eat.
It was low season so most places were closed but I'm glad O'Leme wasnt. The food is so good and the "Stone Steak" is probably the best I have ever had! If you are unfamiliar with this, its basically a hot stone heated in the oven, then a fillet of steak is placed on top with garlic butter for you to cook / fry yourself, to your taste - its fantastic and cut through like butter!
The melon and smoked ham was beautiful and sweet, the chocolate and cream pot was to die for and on another day, I had the chicken kievs which were nice, big portions and the homemade chips are perfect.
If you are in the area and you are thinking twice, dont! You will not regret it and the prices are really good (16 Euro for the fillet steak!)
We paid 130 Euros for 5 people to eat 3 courses and drinks!
“A charming spot”
We had dinner here with friends and everyone enjoyed their meals. We had the cataplana and it was great( and messy). The one highlight was the surprisingly good tiramisu! It was the best we have had.
We will be coming back
I visited here with a friend who used to regularly frequent here many years ago. The welcome by the owners was lovely and I felt like a returning friend.
I started with the cream of vegetable soup which was delicious and then for my main. Lamb is my favourite meat and I was persuaded to try the lamb fillet on the stone. I was a little nervous as I wasn't sure how I was supposed to cook it but I needn't have worried as I was shown what to do. The result was lamb that melted in my mouth. By far the best lamb I've ever had!
Not only was the food delicious but the the care and attention shown by the staff was pretty special. Please try this restaurant if you are in the area.
