“Lovely beach front location - spectacular sunsets”

Just stayed there mid-november. Overall very very good. Lovely hotel and excellent views of the sea from the bar and dining room. Staff were excellent. Very friendly, polite, and all spoke good english. Rooms were clean and tidy and quite spacious. Furniture a little tired looking as well used but not to spoil it. Views from the front are off the street and concrete tower blocks beyond so ask for a room at the back or ends overlooking the stunning beaches. Only critiicisms were 1. Some of the bathroom grout and mastic areas were mouldy. No need for that in an otherwise modern spotless bathroom. 2. The food was quite good and had a lot of fish dishes (if you like that - I did) but there could have been a little bit more choice on say fruit in the morning (always just two - fresh melon and pineapple) and vegetables in the lunch and dinner menu (usually just one). No actual main course vegetarian options but a lot of choice of salads/pasta/rice/potatoes (but beware of added meat or fish bits). Tendancy for tinned veg too. We were quite satisfied but some picky eaters might not be. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Weather can be unreliable at this time of year.

“Good hotel in a perfect location!”

We went to Portugal to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and stayed at the holiday inn at the end of September 2014. The staff at this hotel are very helpful and were quite knowledgeable when we asked them about local attractions. I wanted to surprise my wife when we checked into the hotel and the hotel staff were more than happy to help me with that. Even though I informed them the day before checking in about the surprise they kindly also organized a happy anniversary card with a personalized message and a box of chocolates! So a big thank you to the staff at holiday inn that organized this surprise. My wife really loved the surprise!
The rooms at this hotel are reasonable for a 4 star hotel. The breakfast variety wasn’t as big as we had expected it to be but nevertheless there was still enough food to go round.
We were staying in the seaview room near the reception, so there was a bit of noise sometimes when people were walking past in the evenings and this did keep me awake sometimes as I am a light sleeper, but if you have one of the other rooms noise shouldn’t be an issue. The rooms were cleaned everyday but the only issue we had was there were ants in our bathroom.
We are in our mid 20’s and we felt quite young at this hotel as majority of the guests staying at this hotel were older guests from saga holidays, but if you are looking to go on a quiet holiday away from the partying towns than this hotel is the one to stay at.
In the town centre there are a few shops, mainly souvenir shops , a couple of supermarkets. There’s loads of restaurants and ice cream parlours in the town too. The views of the sea are fantastic as the town is situated on a cliff!
Overall I would recommend staying at this hotel and we had a good time .

“Everything you need for a break”

Checking in was efficient and friendly; even if you are traveling on a heavily discounted rate, if you are a member of IHG's Rewards Club, show your card in case you can get free Wi-Fi. We were upgraded to a room with a sea view - had a small balcony. The hotel is so close to the beach, if you like to drift off to the sound of the waves, you will be very happy here. We certainly were. Limited TV channels, but hopefully you won't need them! The pool is heated in winter so I had a couple of poolside days. There is a bar/cafe at the pool - winter opening I think depends on the number of people in the hotel and whether there are any major groups from, say Saga. For me, the hotel was just the right size - not too big; not too small. Breakfast buffet is plentiful and appetising, as is the dinner buffet which we took advantage of a couple of times. The bar is convivial and there is a private path to the beach. Staff will do their utmost to make your stay is memorable, and I really don't think you can ask for more than that.
