“Great Value & Good Location”
My wife & I have just returned from our annual two weeks at the Amarilis. We have stayed there a number of times in recent years and always thought it good value for money. Granted the building and furnishing are not the most palatial (I understand though that they are to be renovated over the coming months), but the apartments are spacious, comfortable, and clean (don't understand the comments to the contrary, as this has not been our experience) and make an excellent base for the beach and amenities of Praia da Rocha. The apartments are serviced every day and both towels and bed linen are changed very regularly. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and always make us feel valued and welcome guests.
As we spend our days on the beach and eat out in the evenings we can't really comment on the pool and other facilities as we've used them only occasionally and not for a few years.
The apartments are located an easy 7/8 minute walk from, we think, the best beach on the Algarve and a similar distance from the resort centre and restaurants.
We look forward to returning next year, as the Amarilis has the potential to be possibly the best serviced apartments in Praia da Rocha once renovated.
“Great Location and great facilities”
This hotel had a very warm welcome by reception staff and the hotel itself was actually quite impressive for a 3 star. The facilities include in and outdoor pools, sauna, gym, hairdressers and a spa massage room. The rooms were huge with a separate kitchen and living room. The beds are not very comfortable but to be honest this didn't bother me - we didn't have any air con but we asked for a fan which kept us cool in the night. The hotel seems very clean and pool was lovely but cold!
The resort itself is great! lots to do and see - lovely restaurants and bars and street entertainment.
I found the resort to be very cheap in price in restaurants and bars - you can by a cocktail for as little as $4 euros! which in the UK would normally be about £6.50.
Had a fantastic time and would definitely return! I also work as a travel advisor and will recommend to my clients!
“A Tough Place to Review”
Love it or hate it. I can't decide. Not the kind of place I would stay. Very dated. But efficient. Close to the beach and I would far rather spend my time there than by the pool here. The value can't be beat. I just feel like I was visiting my Grandmothers apartment from the late 1970's, frozen in time. I can not in good conscience recommend this property to my clients.
