“Wrong Choice”

After a long day walking we were in the middle of Anusan Market looking for a place to eat. We saw this seafood restaurant that was packed and offer fresh fish from a bunch of pools and fish tanks. We thought it was the perfect place. It look great, full of locals and with a good product. We were terribly wrong....

We didn't care that it took us a while to find a table or the fact that the waiter was simply useless but the fact that it took so much time to deliver the food and the drinks, and that the food (after we claim for it at least 3 times) was tasteless and not what we order, was something unacceptable.

First of all, we had the calamari that were chewy and very dry, and then we asked for a fish to shared that came very late and it was a different fish that the one we order. Plus, no side dishes (still waiting for it). The food itself was wrongly cook and didn't have any taste at all.

Strangely enough, is not a place that someone would try to fetch you inside so don't trust in the fact that they are so many asians eating there and try to avoid it. Price wise wasn't bad but still it was my worst meal in Asia.

“A disappointment”

Although the restaurant was only half full it was hard to get served. We only hung on because we had a yen for the duck breast in honey. When it arrived it had been cut through with the bone, so we ended up with more bone than duck! The fried rice was ok - a bit bland. Don't think we would go again.

While we waited for a table we picked out the fish, lobster and prawns. Once we sat down, the waiter proceeded to bring the seafood to the kitchen - without first asking us how we wanted them cooked and without telling us the weight and price of everything we picked out ! When asked the seafood was outrageously overpriced !! I'm from NYC and my friends I was dining with are from London - the prices were more than what we would have paid to in either city. We then waited over 40 minutes for our food, when asked about our multi-dish order, we got ONE plate of sauteed vegetables with rice. Asked about the curries - they showed up WRONG and STONE COLD. we just threw baht on the table for our drinks and the one plate of morning glory veggies. We went into the market and ate from a little old woman cooking out of a food stall - authentic, delicious and truly Thai. This is a tourist trap and they definitely charge westerners/tourists one price and locals another price - They don't count on you to come back, and they don't care. There are so many more places to eat and spend your money in Chiang Mai.
